      American architect (b. Jan. 31, 1921, Pine Bluff, Ark.—d. Aug. 30, 2004, Fayetteville, Ark.), designed Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, Ark., which the American Institute of Architects rated among the five best American buildings of the 20th century. Fay studied under Frank Lloyd Wright and embraced Wright's theories of organic architecture. In the many houses and chapels that he designed, Jones relied on natural materials such as stone and wood.
