      American violinist and teacher (b. Dec. 16, 1922, Brooklyn, N.Y.—d. June 23, 2005, Bronx, N.Y.), was a member of two of the most distinguished chamber groups of the 20th century. From 1958 to 1968 he was second violinist in the Juilliard String Quartet, and he then joined the Beaux Arts Trio, the most celebrated piano trio of its time, where he remained until his retirement in 1992. Cohen studied at the Juilliard School in New York City and later taught at several institutions. From 1966 he was affiliated with the Marlboro (Vt.) Music School and Festival.
