glycolipid
/gluy'keuh lip"id/, n. Biochem.
any of a class of lipids, comprising the cerebrosides and gangliosides, that upon hydrolysis yield galactose or a similar sugar, a fatty acid, and sphingosine or dihydrosphingosine.
[1935-40; GLYCO- + LIPID]
