Rowling
(1965– )
a British writer famous for the very successful series of Harry Potter books. The books include Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (1997) (given the title Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in the US in (1998)), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (1999), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (1999), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2000) and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2003). Although they are written for children, the books are popular with adults too. Rowling has won many awards for her writing and her books have been made into series of films.
