Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration

Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration
n
the official title of the British Parliamentary Ombudsman, an important official who examines complaints from members of the public about central government departments and certain government organizations. The Parliamentary Ombudsman is independent of government and has the right to look at any documents or ask any government employee questions. He or she can order the government to pay money to the person making the complaint, or to put things right in some other way. Separate ombudsmen have now been established for Scotland and Wales: the Welsh Administration Ombudsman and the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman. They deal with complaints relating to the Scottish Parliament, the Welsh Assembly and various other public authorities and organizations in Scotland and Wales.
