Left Book Club

Left Book Club
a British book club (1936–48). It was started by the publisher Victor Gollancz (1893–1967), and its members received books supporting the left in British politics. It had an important influence on the development of the Labour Party, publishing books such as George Orwell’s The Road to Wigan Pier (1937).
