car tax
(also road tax) n [U, C]
(in Britain) tax paid by the owners of motor vehicles. People who pay the tax receive a tax disc (also called a road fund licence) which they must display, usually in a corner of the front window of their vehicle. It is illegal to have a vehicle on a public road without a tax disc.
