Ayckbourn

Ayckbourn
(1939– )
an English writer of many plays for the theatre and television, well known for his cleverly written and often disturbing comedies about English middle-class behaviour, including Absurd Person Singular (1973), Absent Friends (1975), A Chorus of Disapproval (1986) and the series of three plays called The Norman Conquests (1974). He usually gives the first performances of his plays in Scarborough, where he is the artistic director of a theatre company. He was made a knight in 1997.
