Vitry-sur-Seine is a southeastern industrial and residential suburb of Paris and is separated from the city limits of the capital by the suburb of Ivry-sur-Seine. It is connected to Paris by rail (6 miles [10 km]). The Seine River, which flows along Vitry-sur-Seine's eastern border, is heavily industrialized in the area, although market gardening and horticulture still persist. The Church of Saint-Germain in Vitry-sur-Seine has a triple 13th-century nave and a 14th-century choir. Area 4.5 square miles (11.6 square km). Pop. (2004 est.) 80,700.* * *
