Pin·zón (pĭn-zōnʹ, pēn-thōnʹ), Martín Alonso. 1440?-1493.

Spanish navigator who commanded the Pinta on Christopher Columbus's first voyage to America (1492-1493). His brother Vicente Yáñez Pinzón (1460?-1524) was the first European explorer of the Amazon River (1500).
