▪ shark specieslittle-known shark of the family Squalidae that is related to the dogfishes (dogfish). Like all members of the genus Centrophorus, it has large green eyes. The dumb gulper shark grows to up to 43 inches (109 cm) in length. It has been found almost solely off the coast of Australia at depths of 820 to 1,260 feet (250 to 385 metres). No details are known of its diet.
