town, southwestern Saudi Arabia. The town is situated on a mountainous plateau at an elevation of 7,014 feet (2,138 m) and is surrounded by terraced hillsides, which are covered with juniper. It is known as the gateway to the ʿAsīr (Asir) region, a prosperous agricultural area just north of Yemen. Al-Bāḥah lies on the main road from aṭ-Ṭāʾīf to Jīzān.
