antlike flower beetle

      any of the approximately 1,000 species of the insect family Anthicidae (order Coleoptera). They are usually seen around flowers, foliage, refuse, or dead wood.

      These voracious beetles resemble ants and range from 2 to 12 millimetres (up to 1/2 inch) in length. Some can be found in debris and under stones and logs.
