▪ 2002Mongolian politician (b. 1947, Mogod Sum, Mong.—d. Sept. 29, 2001, Ulaanbaatar, Mong.), was secretary-general (from 1996) of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) and speaker (from July 19, 2000) of the country's Great Hural (parliament). Enebish studied engineering at Mongolian National University and after graduation worked as an engineer (1970–75) and as director of the engineering and architecture bureau in Ulaanbaatar (1975–77). After serving (1980–83) as an economic adviser at the Mongolian embassy in Moscow, he returned to Ulaanbaatar, where he was deputy mayor (1983–90) and mayor (1990–92). Enebish became Mongolia's first deputy prime minister in 1993. He was elected speaker after the MPRP won an overwhelming majority in the July 2000 parliamentary elections.
