- Cutler, Ivor
-
▪ 2007British humorist, writer, and performer (b. Jan. 15, 1923, Glasgow, Scot.—d. March 3, 2006, London, Eng.), entertained audiences of all ages with his offbeat wit and whimsical, childlike view of the world. Cutler's eccentric humour touched his work as a poet, singer, songwriter, storyteller, children's author, teacher, illustrator, and harmonium player. He developed a cult following and became popular among celebrities, notably Paul McCartney and John Lennon of the Beatles, who invited him to play the role of Buster Bloodvessel in their film Magical Mystery Tour (1967). Cutler was perhaps best known to the general public for his frequent performances (1969–91) on John Peel's radio programs on BBC Radio 1.
