It is headquartered in New York City.The Morgan branch of the corporation traces its history to J.P. Morgan and Company, Inc. (established 1895), and Guaranty Trust Company of New York (1864), which merged in 1959. The bank was renamed Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. in 1969. In 1989 Morgan became a leading U.S. underwriter of corporate debt, and by the end of the 20th century it had become one of the world's most respected investment banking (investment bank) houses.
