Ferdinand V, Known as “Ferdinand the Catholic.” 1452-1516.
King of Castile and León (1474-1504) who ruled jointly with his wife, Isabella I. He was also king of Sicily (1468-1516) and Aragon (1479-1516) as Ferdinand II and of Naples (1504-1516) as Ferdinand III. His marriage to Isabella (1469) marked the beginning of the modern Spanish state.
