      mountain peak in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, Boulder county, north-central Colorado, U.S. It is the highest peak (14,255 feet [4,345 metres]) in Rocky Mountain National Park and the northernmost “fourteener” in Colorado. It was named in honour of Major Stephen H. Long, an American army officer and explorer who encountered it in 1820. Several hiking trails lead to the summit.
