a US company which opened its first store in 1962 and is now said to be the biggest retailer (= a business that sells goods to the public) in the world. It has thousands of stores across the US and other countries, with the slogan
Always low prices, selling a wide range of goods including clothing, electrical goods and hardware. It also owns Asda™ supermarkets in the UK.
