upper middle class
n [sing + sing/pl v] (also the upper middle classes [pl])
the class of people in British society between the middle class and the upper class. Its members include people such as company directors, professors or barristers, who have a high social status and may earn a lot of money. In modern Britain, however, it is less common to identify people in this way.
