Queen’s Speech

Queen’s Speech
a speech made by the Queen at the State Opening of Parliament in the House of Lords. In it she reads out the government’s plans for the coming year. The speech is written for her by members of the government. It is an important occasion and is broadcast on television and radio. When a king is ruling it becomes the King’s Speech.
