General Motors

General Motors
(abbr GM)
the US car company that is the largest in the world, based in Detroit. It produces the Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac, Saab, Hummer and Daewoo brands and owns a share in Fiat and Suzuki. GM brands in Europe also include Opel and Vauxhall. The company was established in 1908 by William Durant. It is often said that ‘what is good for General Motors is good for the USA’.
