Equal Opportunities Commission

Equal Opportunities Commission
a British government organization, started in 1975, which encourages companies, colleges, etc. to give the same opportunities to men and women. It also tries to make sure that men and women receive the same pay for the same work. It has the power to enforce (= force people to obey) parts of the Sex Discrimination Act and the Equal Pay Act.
