BSkyB

BSkyB
(in full British Sky Broadcasting) (also Sky)
a company formed in 1990 that uses satellites to broadcast television programmes. It is partly owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News International company, and was formed by joining British Satellite Broadcasting and Sky TV. People in Britain can receive the programmes by paying for the service and using a small satellite dish (= a device for receiving signals from a satellite) which is usually fixed to the outside of their homes. Programmes include films, sport and news. Some sports events can only be seen on BSkyB.
