qʿd

qʿd
Central Semitic, to bend, sit. Dhu'l-Qa'dah, from Arabic ḏūl-qaʿda, the one of the sitting (perhaps referring to staying at home instead of going to war, since this is the first of the months in which fighting is forbidden), from qaʿda, sitting, from qaʿada, to sit.
