Adirondack Mountains
A group of mountains in northeast New York between the St. Lawrence River valley in the north and the Mohawk River valley in the south. The range is part of the Appalachian system and rises to 1,629.9 m (5,344 ft). Lakes, forests, and numerous winter sports resorts, including Lake Placid, site of the 1932 and 1984 Winter Olympics, attract many tourists.
