I. Mount Ver·non1 (vûrʹnən)
An estate of northeast Virginia on the Potomac River near Washington, D.C. It was the home of George Washington from 1752 until his death in 1799. The mansion, built in 1743 by Lawrence Washington, George's half-brother, has been restored and is open to the public.
  II. Mount Ver·non2 (vûrʹnən)
A city of southeast New York adjacent to the Bronx. Primarily residential, it was laid out as a planned community in the 1850s. Population: 67,153.
