“Little Sweetie”
      Chinese businesswoman

born Sept. 29, 1937 , Shanghai, China

died April 3, 2007, Hong Kong, China
became Asia's richest woman after she inherited the estate of her husband, Teddy Wang, the founder of Chinachem Group, a private property firm, and built it into a multinational empire. After her husband was kidnapped in 1990 (he was declared legally dead in 1999), Wang waged a contentious legal battle with her father-in-law, who sought control of his son's estimated $5 billion fortune. Using her power of attorney, Wang assumed the position of chairwoman and expanded the company internationally. In 2005 she won the civil suit brought by her father-in-law. At the time of her death, the eccentric Wang, who wore pigtails and shopped at discount stores for her clothing, reportedly had a fortune of $4.2 billion.
