▪ 2006British secretary and spy (b. March 25, 1912, Pokesdown, Hampshire, Eng.—d. June 2, 2005, London, Eng.), worked quietly for the British Non-Ferrous Metals Research Association from 1932 until her retirement in 1972, but in September 1999 it was revealed that she had been a Soviet spy since the late 1930s and had passed photographic copies of sensitive documents concerning projects, including top-secret government research, to her Soviet handlers.
