      British singer (b. Jan. 26, 1926, Hull, Yorkshire, Eng.—d. Feb. 20, 2001, Hailsham, East Sussex, Eng.), was one of Britain's most popular romantic crooners in the 1950s; he made hundreds of recordings and had more than 20 hits, most notably “No Other Love,” which became his signature tune. He briefly returned to the charts in 1963 with the children's novelty song “Windmill in Old Amsterdam.” After the rise of rock and roll in the 1960s, Hilton concentrated on cabaret and pantomime appearances as well as television and radio nostalgia programs.
