▪ 2001Canadian abstract artist (b. Jan. 3, 1934, Montreal, Que.—d. Sept. 8, 2000, Montreal), was a painter, printmaker, and collagist who was best known for creating massive monochromatic paintings, many of them inspired by atonal music; late in his life a shoulder injury and other health concerns caused him to scale back the size of his works, and he returned to his earlier pursuit of producing collages.
