      British pop singer, actor, and businessman (b. June 23, 1940, London, Eng.—d. March 8, 2003, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Eng.), remained in the public eye through a succession of overlapping careers, beginning as a teen pop idol in the early 1960s. Faith landed a regular appearance on the new pop-music show Drumbeat in 1959. Later that year he signed with EMI's Parlophone label and released his first number one single, “What Do You Want.” “Poor Me,” released the following year, also made number one, and he had over a dozen more songs in the top 20 over the next five years. He also began appearing in movies, notable among them Mix Me a Person (1962), Stardust (1974), and McVicar (1980). He appeared onstage opposite Dame Sybil Thorndike in Night Must Fall (1968), starred in the 1970–72 television show Budgie, and briefly worked as a manager. In the 1980s he reinvented himself as a financial guru and wrote newspaper columns on investing, but this career came to an end with the '80s. In 1992–94 Faith starred in another successful TV series, Love Hurts, and he appeared in touring productions of Alfie and A Chorus Line.
