▪ 2006Edward Albert HeimbergerAmerican actor (b. April 22, 1906, Rock Island, Ill.—d. May 26, 2005, Pacific Palisades, Calif.), was best remembered for his starring role as Oliver Wendell Douglas, a lawyer intent on leaving the trappings of city life to become a gentleman farmer, in the popular TV series Green Acres (1965–71). Albert debuted on Broadway in 1936 in the comedy O Evening Star and later that year starred in Brother Rat. He was featured in numerous Broadway productions, including The Boys from Syracuse (1938), The Music Man (1960), and You Can't Take It with You (1983). He appeared in nearly 100 films and received Academy Award nominations for his roles in Roman Holiday (1953) and The Heartbreak Kid (1972). Albert returned to TV in the series Switch (1975–78) and Falcon Crest (1987).
