/thuy"ram/, n. Chem.
a white, crystalline compound, C6H12N2S4, insoluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, soluble in benzene and acetone, used as a vulcanizer and accelerator for rubber and as a fungicide, bacteriostat, and seed disinfectant.
[1945-50; alter. of thiuram, equiv. to THI(O)UR(EA) + -am, as in CARBAMYL or CARBAMIC]
