“Bunny” 
      Canadian novelist (b. 1939, Saskatoon, Sask.—d. Feb. 25, 2001, Vancouver, B.C.), was internationally known for her crime novels, many of which featured detective Karl Alberg of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Wright's most popular character. Her first novel, Neighbours (1979), won the Alberta Best First Novel Award. The first of her Karl Alberg series, The Suspect (1985), won the Mystery Writers of America's Edgar Allen Poe Award for best crime novel. Two later Alberg mysteries, A Chill Rain in January (1990) and Mother Love (1995), received the Crime Writers of Canada's Arthur Ellis Award. Wright's final novel, Menace, was published posthumously.
